The Cambridge MidYIS (Middle Years Information System) test is a digital, adaptive baseline assessment set by Cambridge and administered by KBH, for 11-14 year-old students (Year 7). It is used by schools worldwide to measure potential and aptitude in vocabulary, mathematics, non-verbal reasoning, and skills. It is curriculum-independent and helps schools establish a baseline to track progress, predict GCSE, O Level and IGCSE performance, and identify learning needs.
The Year 7 Midyis assessment covers four areas:
Vocabulary: Word fluency and understanding.
Mathematics: Logical thinking and numerical concepts (focus on speed).
Non-verbal: 3D visualization, spatial awareness, and pattern recognition.
Skills: Proofreading and perceptual speed.
Each year KBH conducts the Cambridge Year 7 Midyis test for its students. KBH has achieved the highest average test scores globally for the Cambridge Year 7 MIDYIS assessment for three years in a row for 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025.
Analysis of the KBH results show that not only has KBH achieved exceptional academic outcomes for our students in areas such as mathematics and vocabulary, our students are also improving year on year in these areas when benchmarked against international peers and standards.
