CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL ADVANCED SUBSIDIARY AND ADVANCED LEVEL (A LEVELS)
A-levels are internationally recognized pre-university qualifications taken over two years, typically between ages 16 and 18, that are required for entry into many universities worldwide. Students typically study three (maximum four) subjects in-depth, with final grades determined by external examinations set and marked by Cambridge at the end of the two-year course. Students develop subject-specific knowledge, critical thinking, and other skills valuable for both higher education and career opportunities.
What A-levels are:
Subject-based: A-levels allow for a deeper dive into specific subjects, allowing students to specialize in areas of interest.
Two-year program: The full A-level qualification is typically completed over two years, being Year 12 and Year 13.
University-level foundation: They provide a strong academic foundation and are a primary requirement for entry into an international university, where a certain number of "points" are granted based on grades achieved.
How A-levels are structured and assessed:
Subject choice: At KBH students can choose from a range of 10 different subjects, and you typically choose a smaller number of subjects to study in depth (often three subjects and a maximum 4 subjects at KBH).
Assessment: Assessment is primarily through final examinations at the end of the two-year course. Some subjects may also include practical assessments or coursework. KBH is an accredited Cambridge International Examination Center and is licensed to examine the Cambridge A Levels at its Bukit Merah campus.
Grading: Grades range from A* to E, with A* being the highest.
